Country music sensation Janie Fricke’s latest CD Country Side of Bluegrass is slated for release on January 24, 2012 via New Music Deals. It is produced by Bil Vorndick, and Kirt Webster served as executive producer of this 13-track project.
Janie Fricke is one of the most beloved female voices in country music. She has won the coveted “Female Vocalist of the Year” award twice in 1982 and 1983, an honor that has gone to such icons as Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Emmylou Harris and Barbara Mandrell.
It opens with “You Don’t Know Love,” where her vocals are refreshing and lilting as Dolly Parton’s. It is followed by such up-tempo rustic tunes as “Goodbye Broken Heart” and “Do Me With Love.” The gorgeous ballad “Faithless Love” showcases the control and range in her voice. Yet another stunning ballad is “Please Help Me, I’m Falling (In Love With You),” which is sure to be a crowd-favorite for many.
Other chart-topping country songs by Fricke included in this collection include “Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me Baby,” “He’s a Heartache” and “Tell Me a Lie”; however, the highlight song on the CD is her rendition of her signature song “It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Easy.”
Fricke’s version of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” is featured as a bonus track, which closes the CD. Her mellifluous rendition would have made Johnny, June Carter Cash and Anita Carter proud!
All in all, Janie Fricke is the epitome of grace and natural talent in country music. With Country Side of Bluegrass, Janie Fricke proves that is like fine wine; her traditional-sounding voice only gets better with time, and is as captivating as ever. Kirt and Bil have done a brilliant job on its production.
This is one of the finest country-bluegrass albums by a female vocalist since Dale Ann Bradley’s Somewhere South of Crazy CD. Fricke’s latest CD is a must for country music fan’s record collection!
