There already has been so much buzz around the popular Fox show, The X Factor. Tonight, the 60 contestants are cut to 24 as boot camp in Miami comes to an end. The top 24 will find out who their mentors are, and report to the “Judges’ Homes” for mentoring. This year Marc Anthony joins Simon Cowell, will.i.am joins Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun are with LA Reid, and Nick Jonas joins Demi Lovato.
The 24 competitors that are selected to go to the judge’s homes will work closely with them and their mentors. The acts that make it through this round will travel to Los Angeles to compete in the final stage of the competition, which is the live show. The winner of the X Factor will receive a $5 million recording contract.
Judge Simon Cowell particularly enjoys this part of the show. He states, “This is why I do this part of the show. There is a comparison thing, which is really important. You get to see one group after another very quickly and you see who has got it and you will also see who hasn’t got it.”
At this part of the competition, the judges have really narrowed do the best of the best and it’s going to start getting hard to cut people. “The challenge is that it’s going to be kind of hard having to be in a situation to tell them “no” and to make them go home,” says judge Britney Spears, “That’s probably the hardest, but the good facts are that there are those four that are going to stay and that we’re going to do a really good job.” Spears and the other judges will have to pick who will move on to the live performance round in Los Angeles.
Demi Lovato chose Nick Jonas as her mentor for her group. “The reason why I picked Nick is because we kind of grew up together. We’ve known each other since we were 14 and now we’re 20-years old and we’ve continued to have successful careers and he’s been all over the world; sold so many records, hit songs,” she explains, “I mean, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s a really smart, intelligent guy and, plus, we just know each other so well and we have so much fun together.” Together, Jonas and Lovato will help train their contestants and help them in any way they can before the live performance round.
